**FIRST ENTRY: April 1, 2006
Hello there. I enjoy puzzles. Since I was a tiny freckled nosed little girl, I always found enjoyment in searching and placing together colorful pieces until they formed a picture perfect puzzle. What a deceptive portrayal of life to a six year old! If only life was really that easy……… I do not partake in actual puzzles as much anymore – it was a pastime that has been shadowed by the busy-ness of responsibility and life.
However, I have recently realized that I have not given it up altogether. At the wonderful age of 28, I have been aimlessly searching for my own “pieces” for awhile. Growing up, I was a lucky gal (along with my six crazy siblings) to have been exposed to many activities, hobbies, concepts, skills, places – our parents have completely devoted themselves to us in making sure that we have experienced the great spectrum of life. Well, me being the indecisive erin that I am, and having found various passions during my childhood years, have found it quite difficult in focusing all of my these passions into one single focal point. This is where Lola Mae Creations fits into the scheme of my years.
Since college, I have dipped into a couple of different careers. Started out as a middle school math and science teacher, now currently tending bar at a laid back local pub. How funny the two jobs seem to parallel one another in terms of people interaction. I love both jobs. However, as always, something seemed to be missing for me. My family and closest friends have always managed a smile after opening a homemade present that I spent hours creating especially for them. Whether they liked it or not, at least they knew I cared. About a year ago, I was able to create something that I actually felt as though my friend, Betsy, would really love. And that was my first necklace! My first time experimenting with stones and silver, and I fell in love with the skill. Even after a year of creating hundreds of pieces of jewelry, I still find incomparable satisfaction in sitting and forming these beautiful stones into unique pieces of art.
Starting Lola Mae Creations is overly gratifying to me. Quite similar to when I was wearing pigtails and sitting at our tiny red wooden table in our family room, piecing together puzzles and having absolutely no worries in the world. I know I have a few more pieces of my puzzle to find, but it is wonderful knowing that I have found one!
Thank you kindly for stopping by the site, and have a lovely day today, erin

October 13, 2006
Yippee!! The weekend is finally here......as well as, the brisk autumn weather :)
Well......I have been thinking. About life, people, events, situations, .......life, and so on :) I have made a little decision ~ woo hoo!! (At times, I can be a very indecisive individual!) So, holiday shopping has almost started, and I have gotten a bit depressed by the prices that I have seen on items, as well as - the vibe I get when I discuss pricing with other business people. "It's the holiday season. It is inevitable that people will purchase items, so don't bother with any discounting prices until after the holidays." This depresses me. I have been learning a lot about mark up on items and all that jazz.....and yes - people need to have a profitable business. However, I guess I see myself in the position that I'd rather have people lookin' good with beautiful and well crafted accessories, then not be wearing any at all! I love sitting at my table, surrounded by lovely gemstones, silver and gold ~ and coming up with a one-of-a-kind piece of art. For me, it is most gratifying to see an end product.....and even more exciting, when I see someone wearing a Lola Mae Creation :) As a result of this, I am going to re-evaluate my pricing equation for now, and keep prices as minimal as possible..........perhaps one day, when Lola Mae has her own store where you can walk in, try on and purchase - then, I'll need to up by prices a bit!
I will be uploading new pieces in the next few days, so be sure to check back soon!
Take care and have a fabulous day :) xo, erin
October 6, 2006
It's raining.....it's pouring.....the old man in snoring! This is definitely some great sleepy time weather :) Hopefully everyone is able to stay out of this autumn rain.
Well, this week has been one of those weeks! My very dear car of over 130,000 miles finally decided to kuh-putz on me Monday evening! Yes, I was a bit emotionally distraught - I love my car! However, my husband and I aren't able to carpool each other around. So, early Tuesday morning, the car searching began! I soon learned how the crazy process worked; and found myself behind the wheel of various cars, test driving them as I entertained the car salesman with my non-automatic driving skills! (My old car is a manual transmission.) With the help of my brother-in-law, I was able to haggle and be a little sneaky, until we finally found a great buy. The search has ended, and a new car is parked next to my barely drivable car until we can try to get it to a mechanic to check out. Wish us luck with this!!
Anyhow ~ the new jewelry that was to be uploaded to the site this week, will be added next week due to the time consuming car shopping dilemna :) This new car will last us for another 130,000 miles, at least!!
Take care everyone and have a wonderfully rainy and sleepy weekend :) xo, erin

Happy Autumn Everyone!!!! The past couple mornings, when going out to my car, leaves have began to fall around me :) My mom always told me that if you catch a leaf on the first day of fall, it's good luck for the season! So, the fall season brings another Lola Mae jewelry update! I have been busy making and photographing and uploading..........by the end of next week ~ the update will be in progress! In the meantime, stop by the two consignment jobs that are located in St. Mary's County and see if there is anything that fits your fancy!
Also, Lola Mae had an exciting event last Friday night. I donated two sets of jewelry to the St. Mary's County Hospital for a wine tasting/auction. 100% of the proceeds went towards a foundation that raises money for nursing scholarships. You can check out the event, upcoming events and information on the foundation at ~ St. Mary's County Hospital Foundations ~ it was a successful evening for the Scholarship Fund!

WOW ~ my husband and I spent Labor Day weekend with some close friends, in a wonderful cabin on a pond, in Northern Vermont! It was such a refreshing and much needed few days away...........sometimes it is great not having much technology around. We played a lot of croquet, canoed on the pond, and ate lots of yummy food cooked on the grill :) I can't wait till' Vermont 2007!!
In regards to jewelry ~ I know there are a lot of "Sold Out" items. No worries......I will be doing a fall season update during the last week in September. Be sure to let me know of any colors, stones, or styles that you would like to see with the new batch of jewelry!

Happy Hump Day Today! Wednesday is such an odd day. Smack in the middle of the week........either still recovering from a busy weekend, or getting ready for an exciting Saturday and Sunday ahead :) And work? Well, I hope everyone's work days are going as smoothly as possible today. Maybe try to spice up your work/office area with a handful of vibrant flowers ~ it's okay if you have to pick them from your neighbors yard, as long as it is for a good cause :) That's what my pops taught me.....sorry Dennis, if you've been missing some flowers over the years!
June 27, 2006
Hello there!!
So, my husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary last night at an amazing local steakhouse! He ordered a 26 oz. prime rib, and I am happy to say that he did finish a good portion of it :) I ordered my first prime rib ever (only 8 oz. - 18 oz. less than his!) and it was deee-li-cious! We were so stuffed by dinnner, we couldn't even eat our wedding cake that we had saved from a year before. This morning I unwrapped it so that we could eat it for breakfast. Well, come to find out - it was the wrong cake! We had taken my sister's wedding cake that she had never eaten - it is almost 4 years old, however, still very tasty!! Quite silly....

*Scrumptious Salad Recipe*
1 head of romaine or your favorite mix of greens - cut and dried
1 large bell pepper (yellow or orange) - sliced
1 small red onion - sliced
1 regular container of grape or cherry tomatoes - sliced in half
about a cup of kalmata olives - pitted and sliced in half
about 1 1/2 cups of feta cheese
the best part: a "bundle" of asparagus - cut in half, blanched and marinated overnight in your favorite balsamic dressing. If you need a good one - I always default to Paul Newman's Balsamic Light - it is delicious!
When it comes time to serve the salad, simply pour the marinated asparagus with the dressing over the greens and other veggies, and WAH-LAH!!
I do have to give credit to our good friend, Sharon, for this salad. She made it for a BBQ our family had a couple of years ago, and it has been a favorite of mine ever since!
.......sometimes, instead of feta cheese, I use fresh balls of mozzarella, sliced in half. And perhaps some mushrooms, as well - just depending what kind of cheese I am craving that day! ENJOY :)
